A drawn conversation with Tan Vatey, an interdisciplinary artist and member of the collective tiSamjort.
Vatey creates installations, abstract paintings, sculptures, and artist books, drawing inspiration from her life experiences and her surroundings.
Together with Sophal Neak, Sao Sreymao, Say Tola, Mech Chouly, and Mech Sereyrath, she is part of the collective tiSamjort. After initiating Nomadix, which brought art to provincial communities in Cambodia, tiSamjort established a space in the capital for exchange, friendship, creativity, and discussions related to art. The aim is to continue providing a platform for community projects, artist talks, film screenings, and other arts programmes. Since its founding, they have welcomed many groups of Cambodian and international friends to tiSamjort, building lasting connections and shared memories.
